A Paris Video

Up at 5 am this morning.  This jet lag has really got me.   So here I am reminiscing about Paris. {It is 2 in the afternoon there right now ya know.  We would be sitting in an outdoor café under a heat lamp, watching the Parisian's hustle by while sipping on une demi pichet de vin with our croque monsieur.  Trés délicieux.}

Here's a reminiscent video of Paris.  Do I want to be there right now?  Nah.  I'm pretty tired.  But that doesn't mean I don't want to close my eyes and imagine we are there.  Here.  We.  Go.

Some of you may remember this video from this post.  Way back when Paris was only a consideration not yet an actual realization.  I'm so glad we went.

Blogs, Scrapbooking, and Jet Lag

After a beautiful, and romantic week in the ever enchanting Paris {my dream destination ever since I studied French in high school} today we are enjoying a much deserved and needed veg-out day.  Oh yes. We are spending the day in the couch, resting our ever tired feet and legs.  More about our fabulous trip later.

Today I am enjoying some of my favorite blogland reads and finds while my husband plays games on his phone with Harry Potter in the background {don't make fun, we're Potter heads}.

Here are some things I'm looking at today.

Some scrapbook inspiration.  I love this layout.  I really need to get back into this.

Studio Calico Daydream Believer kit

And by "getting back into this" I mean getting a scrapbook kit subscription to help get my inspiration bubbles flowing {don't ask me what that means. it just seemed like the right description in my head}.  My favorite?  Studio Calico, like the one above.  Haven't quite taken the plunge to committing to a kit for at least 6 months or so.

I am really inspired by this Project Life scrapbook idea.  The idea is to take pictures and document every week in 2012.  Well, I don't know about you but my life isn't exciting enough to document every week and keeping it interesting.  But I still like the idea of documenting major to semi-major things that happen within the year.  Maybe doing it in a way that's a little less constricting {the above one uses specific journal cards and page protectors}.  Hmmm...now THIS might be the perfect thing to get me back into scrapbooking and journaling {and for organizing my need for hoarding all movie stubs, tickets, and basically anything having to do with proving our life really isn't all that boring - because it's ours}.

I so want this retro blue smash book.  What a great way to keep track of all your favorite things.  Maybe this could be my keeper of the Project Life scrapbook?

In the honor of all things random, I came across this little tutorial on StumbleUpon.  Must give it a try {though I'm not sure my hair is thick enough}.

I just love the styling in this photo.

And of course I caught up on one of my fav blogs, The Daybook Blog.  It cannot be helped.

Now that the day is practically over and I've spent most of it on the computer catching up in blogland and gaining scrapbook inspiration, I'm too tired {and jet lagged} to pursue anything.  Plus my two kitties are snuggling me on opposite sides sound asleep making me lazy.  Please tell me this happens to you too.  "Uh oh, my cat is on my lap.  Guess I can't do anything."  ha!

Countdown to Paris: Part Deux

source:  Haute Design

Planning our journey.  I found this list which includes a woman's essentials for a perfectly planned trip.  From necessities to the just-in-case.  AND it's pretty to look at.  Bonus!  Did you know there are YouTube video's on how to fold your clothes for packing?  Yeah.  Who knew.

A few things are a must in Paris.  Here's our unplanned itinerary {remember, taking it as it comes}.

Cannot wait to stand here.

And the rest...no words can describe.  So I won't use them.

I must find where this shop is.  Repetto's ballet flats are inspired by demi-point ballet shoes.  The designer, Rose Repetto created her first ballet flats in 1956 in her studio at Rue de la Paix.  Inspired by the elegance of a ballerina.

Don't these look scrumptious?  Can't wait to try these macaroons.  Everything tastes better in France, doesn't it?

There's going to be a lot of this:

Plenty of this:

And this.

This will probably be us but I don't care.

I really want to try this.

I plan to bring a travel journal and document everything.  We are well equipped with a camera and video camera.  Paris, nous voici!

Countdown to Paris

I just found out that Les Soldes (bi-annual sales in Paris) start THE DAY {plus 3 before} we get there! Whaaaaa?!  This is bad.  This is real bad (says my husband).  Is this meant to be or what? {says me}

We are so excited to go and just be.  We will be doing some planning, of course.  We don't want to forget to go somewhere or see something we want to see just because we got caught up with the la belle of Paris. But we still just want to explore and see what we find.

I could just imagine sitting in one of these chairs with a bottle of wine and plate of cheese (I'll be nice and split with the hubs), watching the Parisians pass us by.  *Sigh*

 Tomorrow I will post a more detailed post about, yep, Paris.  There is nothing else on my mind right now.

Morning Reads - Goodbye City Life

Another blog that I have recently come to adore (and stockerish-ly go way back in her archives) is Goodbye City Life by April Foster.  She is the founder of Studio Calico, a scrapbook club that I so want to get my hands on (their kits that is) but just haven't gotten around to it yet.  April writes about her passion for scrapbooking as well as her passion for life (and life on their farm).

Without giving everything up, her and her husband went through in vitro fertilization and their happy ending is a beauty named Claire.  I am telling you, cute cute cute that girl is.  But you gotto go check out April yourself!

Busy with PomPom's

Hanging White and Red PomPom Garland

I came up with an idea I've been wanting to act on and finally had time to do so in the last couple weeks.  PomPom Garlands!  What do you think?

 Still trying to decide white pictures I like better.  Against a the garage or hanging from a tree.  My hubby got Photoshop Elements for editing pictures and I must say...that program is hard!  At least for someone who doesn't know Photoshop.  He has shown me shortcuts and he's so quick with the fingers that I'm like Whaaaa?!  Hold up!  Back up a lil there mister!  Yep, I'm one of those people who has to take notes.

Morning Reads - The Day Book Blog

I love this girl.  She is so stinkin' funny and her style is to die for!  Her name is Sydney and her blog consists of everything from her personal style (fabulous), real life (for reals), style and photo tutorials (helpful), and her sweet little bebe, Everett (adorable).  But she doesn't stop there!  You gotta go check out The Daybook blog.  I have been introduced to many of my other favorite blogs by her.  So fun!

Welcoming in 2012

{I know it's a little late to post this for this blog.  Better late than never I say.
I first posted on my old blog Mon Petit Nook}

Photo taken at 2 am after everyone left.
Please excuse the sleepy eyes.
2011 was a big year for us.  You know, with getting married and all.  That means 2012 brings our 1 year anniversary as well as our trip to Paris!!  Not only am I anxious to start a new year; along with it I have some resolutions.  Just like everybody else I hope to overcome a few things, start a few things, get better at a few things, etc. etc. etc.  So here we go.

1}  Evolve my Etsy shop, Reminiscence, into a shop with a wider selection of paper goods and home decor.  {There's a part duex to this but that I'm going to keep to myself for now.  It's sort of - that's a lie - a huge leap and possibly will never happen but I am working on the dream!}  I also want to focus more on my blog and aspire to become one of those awesome bloggers out there like this one {love her}.  I need to work on my awesome photography skills so it can look more like this instead of the one above.  I mean, I love that photo of my hubby and I.  My editing skills just stink.

Ok that was a long one.  Let's move on.

2}  Organize our home so we quit gathering paper clutter from mail, magazines, and must-have documents.  I need a drop zone like this one.

3}  Start a class whether it be ballet, Pilates, belly dancing, something of the like.  I need to get my back and abs in better shape!

Feeling good about these.  All attainable and non of them involve dragging myself to a gym, doing something I hate {heavy workouts and sticking to a diet}.  Because THAT just would not work for me.

Happy New Years to you and yours.

Oui, Paris

There has been one thing and one thing only on my mind. Something the hubs and I have been contemplating for quite some time.  Do we do it or do we not?  Sometimes it's hard for me to make decisions instead of just doing.

We are planners {well, I am}.  We are not spontaneous {but we're not boring}.  We do not make quick rash decisions {hmmm, guess that's not true}.  We save our money and try to be thrifty spenders {ha, not anymore!}.

We have decided {probably isn't a secret anymore}...

That for our 1 year anniversary...

We're going to Paris!!!

Hotel de la Sorbonne {notre hôtel}

Get this.  They call their rooms "Design Rooms".  How perfect!

I want to go anywhere and everywhere.  I have never been but my husband has.  I know, not fair right?  So I fully expect him to be my tour guide.  However I have some requests.

I want to visit the tour d'Eiffel {well duh!}, our hotel is by the Notre Dame and I hear there is a wonderful crepes shop right by it.  I want to window shop with the possibility to buy {this is were my thrifty spending will probably go down the drain}.  I want to take le metro to Versailles.  I want to peruse the museums, sit in a cafe and sip vin chaude and espresso while people watching.

It's going to be cold, but that just means more snuggling and bundling up in chic French coats!

The French are so interesting, I am sure of this.  Can't wait!

Wait, is this what les femmes françaises wear?  :)
